Offering a path for greater wholeness and hope utilizing Gestalt Pastoral Care.

“Gestalt work is not so much turned toward what is wrong but toward what’s blocking the health that is surely present.”

Tilda Norberg

What is Gestalt Pastoral Care?

GPC is an integrative approach that weaves together Gestalt modalities, Contemplative Prayer, and Spiritual Companioning.

Gestalt begins in the present moment, inviting attention to the body and honoring the innate wisdom we carry within. Contemplative Prayer grounds the process, opening space for the presence of the Divine Spirit in and around us. Spiritual Companioning brings the support of a compassionate presence, offering guidance as one engages in deep inner work.

Each session is rooted in trust and confidentiality, creating a brave space where you can explore your inner landscape with compassion and courage.

GPC is gentle and honors resistance, recognizing that resistance itself holds wisdom. You will never be pressured to say or do anything that doesn’t feel right to you.

Although I myself draw strength from the Christian faith tradition, I honor others unique spiritual journey.

Opening to Grace Circles

Have a group from your faith community or a group of friends that are interested in growing together? The Circles meet for 2 hours at a time and allow for contemplative prayer practices to begin and end the session with one’s individual work in the middle, supported by the gathered community. There have been participants that say they can’t imagine doing GPC without the presence of a group. The supportive atmosphere curated in the Circle has been known to add a powerful dynamic to an individuals work, offering validation and encouragement.

Opening to Grace Retreats

Retreats offer an extended time away from the day to day life. The time is filled with contemplative prayer practices, purposeful movement, silence, nourishing meals, time for each participant to engage in a GPC session, and rest. The presence of a supportive community adds opportunities for meaningful connections, shared humanity, and encouragement.

Is GPC right for you?

Feeling stuck or like life is out of sync?

Craving space to be your authentic self — spiritually, emotionally, mentally?

Looking for deeper healing when nothing else seems to work?

“Because the Holy Spirit is continually at work in each of us, pushing us toward wholeness, the process of healing is like removing sticks and leaves from a stream until the water runs clear. If we simply get out of the way of the Lord’s work in us, we can trust we are being led to the particular kind of wholeness God wills for us.” Robert Webber and Tilda Norberg, Stretch Out Your Hand

About

I bring diverse ministry experience in youth ministry, hospice chaplaincy, and congregational pastoral care, with a passion for creating safe, sacred spaces where people can explore both joy and pain. I've supported individuals through grief and end-of-life journeys, and mentored others in providing compassionate care.

I was introduced to Gestalt Pastoral Care (GPC) at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in the early 2000s and returned to it after two decades of varied ministry. GPC has deepened my own healing and integration of mind, body, and spirit, and I now offer this work to others seeking resilience and hope.

I hold an MDiv from Eastern Mennonite University (2003) and completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Elmhurst Hospital. I currently serve as an ordained pastor in Mennonite Church USA, focusing on pastoral care, and lead the GPC Shenandoah Community of Practice. I also integrate contemplative prayer and movement into my GPC practice.

I live with my husband and four children on a small homestead in the Shenandoah Valley, where I find joy in caring for family, animals, and creation.

Gestalt Pastoral Care Associates

“Gestalt Pastoral Care rests on the belief that God's grace is constantly at work in each person. Although we can’t predict just how you may be healed, you can expect to be touched in body, mind, spirit, emotions, and social/relational context in a process unique to you. We are greatly enriched by the wide diversity of theology and worship styles of our participants. All retreats and training programs of Gestalt Pastoral Care are open and inclusive.” GPCA Website
